Product Description
The Mercia Vermont Summerhouse is a spacious garden building that boasts a bright, open space, perfect for entertaining and relaxing. Featuring two fixed styrene glazed windows and two sets of bi-folding doors, this summerhouse is light and airy, great for those who want to enjoy their garden and the summer weather while being shaded from the sun.
The walls of this summerhouse are constructed using premium horizontal interlocking tongue and groove boards with a shiplap profile. The shiplap profile includes a protective and aesthetically pleasing lip to create a strong, weatherproof panel. Complete with thick wooden framing to support the cladding internally, this building offers a rigid and long-lasting structure. Heavy-duty tongue and groove boards are used to construct the floor of this summerhouse. Using an interlocking method, the boards lock together to create a premium, strong and hard-wearing finish which is ideal for frequently used buildings and heavier items. Solid sheet board is used to form the roof, a durable material that is made up of several layers of tightly compacted oriented strand, to create a strong and long-lasting finish. Robust roofing felt, fixtures and fittings are all supplied as standard, alongside our detailed instructions and our manufacturer’s recommendations, to ensure a simple and stress free assembly process.
This building is made in the UK, using ethically sourced, FSC certified timber. All of Mercias buildings come with an Anti-rot guarantee, to ensure your garden building looks great and lasts the test of time, this building in particular comes with a conditional 10 year Anti-rot guarantee as well as a 12 month manufacturer’s warranty. Annual re-treatment is required to maintain your building and the Anti-rot guarantee.

Wood Description:
Wood is a natural material used in a wide range of construction projects and is known for its sturdiness, elasticity, noise reduction qualities and overall aesthtic appeal as a result of its natural characteristics. It will also swell, shrink and crack, release resins, display marrow, gnarls and graining, show inconsistent smoothness and ruggedness, release salts and exhibit pinholes and fungi/ mould.
All of these characteristics are expected with wood and can be explained as follows. Swelling, shrinkage and cracking is caused by the humidity in the atmosphere altering the volume of the wood. Resins escape from the wood usually in the first year following manufacturing. They fall off naturally of may be planed. Marrow, gnarls and grains are unique, natural characteristics of the tree. Rugged areas are where the natural texture of the wood differs and despite milling, cannot be removed. Salts, mould and fungi are caused by the humidity in the atmosphere and are usually a temporary phenomenon. Similary, pressure treated wood often shows markings that may appear to be mould, but are in fact a build up of the treatment applied which may be removed by hand or will gradually weather away. Pinholes are produced by small xylophagous insects. These insects were killed while processing the stem into the end product. Wood, the same as any natural material will never be 'perfect' as the beauty of the material is the variation in colour, texture and finish.
Please ensure all natural wood items are treated with a good quality wood preserver soon after installation to protect the product against weathering.
Dip Treated Softwood
Dip treated wood is basically dipped into a 'bath' of wood treatment for a specific length of time. This means the exterior will be covered, but the treatment will not have penetrated deep into the wood. This type of wood will need treating annually.
Pressure Treated/Tanalised Softwood
Pressure treated wood is placed in a vacuum chamber, which removes all air from the cells in the timber, this forces the preservatives deep into the wood. This process can leave green residue on the wood often mistaken for mould, which will fade over time. You should allow this wood to dry before applying any stain or paint for approx 2 months or more.
Hardwood
Hardwoods are generally stronger and have a high density, making these woods resistant to knocks and scraps. Hardwoods offer more water resistance, meaning they are less likely to rot, suiting them to outdoor furniture.
