Brand Information
The origins of Talasey Ltd are founded in the history of its leading product brand, Natural Paving, which was established in 2004. Natural Paving (UK) Ltd became established after identifying a gap in the market for high quality, ethically sourced natural stone to the domestic landscaping market. Taking an early lead in this field the company quickly began supplying to Builders Merchants and Contractors UK wide.
Natural Paving's commitment to excellent quality and customer service has led to Natural Paving's current ranking as the number one independent supplier of natural stone to the UK landscaping industry, with full UK coverage, activities in Europe and a sister company in America, Natural Paving USA.
As Natural Paving grew, new product brands evolved with Pavetuf (2013), Vitripiazza (2014), Baksteen (2015), Luxigraze (2017) and Resiscape (2017). With such a diverse range of landscaping products Natural Paving was no longer the right 'umbrella' brand to encompass such an impressive array product brands and so the Talasey Ltd came into effect in 2017, as distributors of all the afore mentioned product brands, truly 'changing our landscape'
CE Marking and Declarations of Performance
Following an extensive and rigorous testing process in 2013, the complete Natural Paving range of flagstones, block paving, walling and accessories is fully accredited with CE Marking and come with official Declarations of Performance (DOPs). The tests were completed as part of the transition to the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR), which came into force on 1st July 2013 and requires that all products covered by a Harmonised European Standard (hEN) or European Technical Assessment (ETA) carry CE Marking to state their performance characteristics.
Material Information
Sandstone Description:
Sandstone is a sedimentary rock that is formed from the accumulation and natural bonding of sand grains. The process starts with the erosion of pre-existing rocks, such as granite or limestone, which creates sand-sized particles. These particles are transported by wind, water, or ice and deposited in layers on the earth's surface, such as riverbeds, deserts, or beaches. Over time, the weight of the overlying sediment compacts the sand particles and removes any air pockets, creating a solid mass of rock. Sandstone is an excellent choice for paving material due to its durability and natural beauty. It is a hard, dense stone that can withstand heavy foot traffic, weathering, and erosion. It is also resistant to stains, scratches, and damage from UV rays. Sandstone's natural beauty comes from its unique textures and colours, which vary depending on the minerals present in the rock.
Antique, Tumbled, Aged - Tumbled sandstone paving is a type of sandstone paving that has undergone a special manufacturing process to achieve a unique, weathered look. The process involves tumbling the sandstone in a machine with other stones, gravel, or steel bearings, which causes the stones to rub against each other and smooth out any sharp edges or corners. This creates a softer, more rounded appearance that mimics the natural weathering process. With a naturally riven finished sandstone, the tumbling process removes the newness of of the surface and edges of the stone to give a gentle riven texture and slightly rounds the edges of the stone to give the appearance of a stone that is much older than it actually is making it suitable for period homes where a new stone would look out of place. If a product is sawn and then tumbled, it retains the flat, clean cut appearance, however has a softer finish to the edges to give an aged appearance. It is often produced in a calibrated thickness where the variation in the thickness of the slab is kept to a minimum to simplify the laying process.
Sandstone Colours:
Sandstone is available in a wide range of colours, some subtle and some vivid, however as tumbled sandstone is specifically designed to work well with older style homes, the colour ranges available with a tumbled finish are usually those with more muted tones. The ranges comprise of a selection of core colours combined with subtle contrasting shades, and the balance of shades can vary between batches of even the same stone due to different seams in the stone quarry occurring over time. The colour intensity increases when the paving is wet. Most brands offer the same range of colours with slightly different names. BE AWARE that not ALL natural stone is the same quality. Over 50% of stone sold on many other websites may not conform to British Standards and could crack during cold weather.
The main sandstone colours seen with a tumbled, antique finish sandstone fall into the following groups:
Autumn Brown | Brown Multi - darker shades of brown and warm grey with occasional maroon tones. Creates a warm and inviting atmosphere especially where a darker colouring is required.
Buff | Harvest | Camel | Sunset Buff | Sunrise | Country Buff - has honey buff colours with occasional pink and brown-grey tones. Warm neutral tones.
Raj Green | York Green | Lakeland | Forest Glen - a mix of grey-green, beige and occasional lilac and ideal for a cool neutral colour scheme. Popular for use on older properties as its colours blend well with nature.
Fossil Mint | Mint | Golden Sand - this colour range has light cream colours with warm pink and occasional brown. It may include occasional fossil imprints and bronze markings although the general appearance is a soft cream.
Kandla Grey | Promenade | Grey - a popular choice of light dove grey with very occasional buff and fairly consistent in tone. Works well with most property styles and colours.
Sagar Black | Graphite | Monsoon | Raven | Twilight - a mix of graphite and charcoal tones interspersed with warm buff tones. A classic colour that works well in older style properties. Generally more costly than other sandstone colours.
Indian York | Yorkshire Blend | Glendale | Old York - This sandstone has a contrasting colour palette of light dove grey and golden buff and has a banded appearance. It offers a good, economically priced alternative to British Yorkstone.
Natural Stone Characteristics:
All natural stone products are unique and will vary in colour and texture, often showing distinctive markings, minor imperfections and may include mineral deposits such as iron and quartzite. Sizes are nominal and may vary and there may be dimensional tolerances affecting size and thickness in accordance with British Standards. Some paving manufacturers include the pointing allowance in the individual slab sizes whereas others include the pointing allowance in the overall pack coverage. The product images shown are as accurate as photographic processes allow and may appear differently in accordance with lighting conditions and screen calibration in addition to the natural variation occurring between batches. Images may not be a true representation of a particular product size, use or laying pattern. Descriptions provided offer a combination of the manufacturer's and our own opinion of the product's characteristics and features.
There are many types of natural stone available, so it is important to choose the right natural stone for you.
All products from Talasey are CE marked to ensure they meet with strict EU regulations that were introduced in 2013. European standards EN1341 (flagstones), EN1342 (pavers) and EN1343 (kerbs) specify the requirements and test methods for each of these. The CE testing covers areas including water absorbency, flexural strength and freeze/thaw resistance.
All natural stone products have been tested to show the various properties of each stone and how it is likely to react under different circumstances.
